I'm liking this work more than your previous stuff. I haven't seen this done before and I think it's pretty inventive and original. However, I live under a rock, so what do I know? Maybe everybody does this. Maybe I should start!
This is a great image! The words “someone left” could mean that someone has gone away, or it could refer to the figure on the left. The figures are wearing different hats, which symbolizes role conflict. The person (someone) on the left is showing a picture to someone on the right. Their eyes are in shadow, so it is hard to tell whether the figures are looking at the picture or at each other. The body language is like a mirrored reflection, but with slight differences. It feels like the two parts of yourself are trying to make a connection, (which is perhaps why people have thought that the picture you are holding is of you), the figure on the left is trying to communicate something to the figure on the right, and they seem to be frozen or suspended in time.
Thr words are as usual ambiguous and open to interpretation. And your pt.of view is a great analysis of the image, Alice. The framed picture is purposefully left undisclosed so that the viewer can fill in the blanks. And speaking of filling in the blanks...there is a gap between the two words...
Both people are in a state of being away or not being present....they are thinking about something they do not have at the moment? Longing for something else? Daydreaming....but it's the same person perhaps at different times in their life....
yes, yes and yes. It is funny how cyclical in nature this image is. Knowing what is missing and having an exposed inner dialogue to bring whatever is missing to the surface.

brilliant work.
you're looking at a picture of yourself right?
No. But funny how alot of people seem to think that.

Even a rock holds a wealth of information. Thanks for the props, RFTK.
